Charge Hill, Officer in Charge of the Records of the Government of India, compiled this comprehensive list of Europeans and others in the English Factories in Bengal at the time of the siege of Calcutta, including those who died in and those who survived from the Black Hole. Calcutta Birth Notices
(1856-1857)
A compilation of birth notices from Calcutta newspapers published in England in the Indian Mail in 1857, and covering the period 28 October 1856 to 13 November 1857. Most of the births recorded took place within the Bengal presidency. Names of infants are not given; s. means 'gave birth to a son', d. 'gave birth to a daughter'.ARRATOON. Calcutta Litigants (1889)
The Registrar of the High Court in Calcutta compiled, in April 1937, this list of cases heard before the court in 1889, giving notice that drafts of orders and decrees, affidavits of services of writs and of other processes, motion papers and chamber application papers were shortly to be destroyed. The list gives the number of the suit, the cause title (plaintiff versus defendant), and the names of the attorneys on both sides.

Doctors trained in Britain or Ireland but living abroad
(1948)
The Medical Directory was split into several sections. The Practitioners Resident Abroad section covered all medical practitioners who, having qualified in Britain or Ireland, were living abroad. Each year a schedule was sent to each doctor to be returned to the publishers, so as to keep the directory up to date. In the directory the doctor's name is given first, in bold, surname first, in capitals; then current address. Next are the qualifications; the italic abbreviations in parentheses following the qualifications indicate the medical school at which they were gained. Then there is a list of posts and honours within the profession, starting with those then current; previous posts are preceded by the word 'late'. Finally, brief details are given of any publications. Inclusion of names in the list did not imply a right to practise in the country of residence.ARRATOON.
