There are central registers for collections of the stamp duty in London, as well as returns from collectors in the provinces. These collectors generally received duty just from their own county, but sometimes from further afield. The indentures themselves can date from a year or two earlier than this return. The provincial sections of the Universal British Directory include lists of gentry and traders from each town and the surrounding countryside, with names of local surgeons, lawyers, postmasters, carriers, &c. (the sample scan here is from the section for Bath). The directory started publication in 1791, but was not completed for some years, and the provincial lists, sent in by local agents, can date back as early as 1790 and as late as 1797.

| Irish Bankrupts
(1849)
Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette, issued monthly, included lists of Irish bankrupts to surrender at the Court of Bankruptcy on Lower Ormond Quay. The initial entry gives the name of the bankrupt (surname first, in capitals), address and trade, often with the phrase dlr. and ch., for 'dealer and chapman'; the dates of the stages of the official surrender, the name and address of the agent and the date of the fiat. | South Shropshire Poll Book: Bishop's Castle

The poll book of the election, November 1868, for the Southern Division of Shropshire, is arranged by polling district, and then by parish, township, &c., showing the votes cast (H, Herbert; C, Corbett; M, More), the number on the electoral register, and the full name of the voter, surname first. Where a person had voting qualification in more than one parish, the name is given in each place, but with a cross-reference to the parish list with the entry the vote(s) cast.
