Grantees of offices, commissions and pardons (1413-1416) The Patent Rolls are the Chancery enrolments of royal letters patent. Those for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years of the reign of king Henry V (21 March 1413 to 20 March 1416) were edited for the Public Record Office by R. C. Fowler, and published in 1910. The main contents are royal commissions and grants; ratifications of ecclesiastical estates; writs of aid to royal servants and purveyors; and pardons. The commissions of the peace issued for the English towns and counties and entered on the rolls, being largely repetitive, have been consolidated in a single appendix. DURSLEY. Cost: £2.00. This abstract of the archives from the beginning of the second Session of the second Parliament of queen Anne, 3 December 1706, to the end of the first Parliament of Great Britain, 15 April 1708, was prepared by F. House of Lords Proceedings (1708-1710) Private bills dealing with divorce, disputed and entailed estates: petitions, reports and commissions: naturalisation proceedings. This abstract of the archives from the first and second Session of the second Parliament of Great Britain, 16 November 1708 to 5 April 1710, was prepared by F. W. Lascelles and C. K. Davidson and printed in 1923 in continuation of the volumes issued under the authority of the Historical Manuscripts Commission. The source materials are the manuscript minutes of proceedings, called the Lords Journal (MS. Min.); manuscript minutes of Select Committee proceedings (Com. Book); manuscript minutes of the Committee for Privileges (Priv. Book); the Long Calendar list of acts public and private consecutively by regnal year; and the Folio Edition of Statutes of the Realm. The proceedings are cross-referenced to the printed Lords Journal (L. J.). The greater part of this volume is taken up with the papers laid before the House relating to an expedition fitted out by king Louis XIV of France in an unsuccessful attempt to establish the Pretender on the throne of Scotland in March 1708. Correspondence of Matthew Prior (1685-1721) Matthew Prior was secretary to the British embassy and minister ad interim at The Hague 1693 to 1697, secretary to the embassy at the Congress of Ryswick in 1697, and secretary to the embassy and minister ad interim at Paris 1698 to 1699. His papers survived among the archives of the Marquis of Bath at Longleat, and were edited for the Historical Manuscripts Commission by J. J. Cartwright, A. Maxwell-Lyte and J. M. Rigg, and published in 1909. The volume concludes with a journal and memoirs relating to the Treaty of Ryswick. Traders and Professionals in Birmingham and Suburbs (1878) The Post Office Directory of Birmingham with its Suburbs, edited by E. R. Kelly, and published in 1878, has two main alphabetical lists - Court and Commercial. The suburbs included are Aston, Bickenhill Park, Birchfield End, Castle Bromwich, Erdington, Saltley (with Washwood Heath), Ward End (including Little Bromwich) and Witton, in Warwickshire; Handsworth (with Soho), Harborne, Perry Barr and Smethwick, in Staffordshire; and King's Heath, King's Norton, Moseley, Northfield, Selly Oak and Yardley (including Hall Green and Stechford) in Worcestershire.
