Boys entering Brighton College (1906) This edition of the Brighton College Register was published in 1922. The plan of the publication was to list boys by year or, later, term of entry. Each name is assigned a sequential number, 5000 boys, in all, being recorded. Full name is given (surname first, in bold); year of birth; year of leaving; and then (wherever the compiler had such information) a short biography, ending with date of death, where known. CLOUSTON. Members of the Medico-Psychological Association (1906) The Journal of Mental Science for 1906 included this list of members of the Medico-Psychological Association of Great Britain and Ireland, giving year of joining, full name (surname first), qualifications, and address: an asterisk indicates a member who joined between 1841 and 1855. Barristers (1918) The Law List for 1918 includes this 'List of Counsel, Special Pleaders, and Conveyancers at the Bar'. Each name is given in full, surname first; then the name of the Inn of Court as an abbreviation (G., Gray's Inn; I., Inner Temple; L., Lincoln's Inn; M., Middle Temple; and D. C. for Doctors' Commons) and date at which called to the bar. Barristers in practice are usually furnished with an address, and there are some abbreviated references to judicial awards and appointments. Wanted by the police in London (1923) The Police Gazette was published by Authority by the London Metropolitan Police, and circulated, as confidential, to the police forces throughout Britain and Ireland. The contents were based on the information routinely submitted to the Criminal Record Office. One of the regular features was a section entitled Apprehensions Sought, in which each police force gave details of people for whom arrest warrants had been issued and were now on their Wanted list. The details given are: the name of the police authority (in bold) seeking an arrest; a brief description of the crime; the suspect's full name (in bold); C. R. O. number, year of birth, height, complexion, hair colour, eye colour, distinguishing marks such as scars; clothing &c. There then follows a resume of previous convictions. Variations of surname spelling and aliases are noted in the descriptions, and these variants and aliases have also been indexed. Breeders of Shorthorn Cattle (1924) Coates's Herd Book, published annually by the Shorthorn Society of Great Britain and Ireland, although mainly devoted to the pedigrees of the cattle, also has some human content. New Series volume 70, for births of cattle in 1923, was published in October 1924. New Series volume 70, for births of cattle in 1923, was published in October 1924. It includes lists of breeders; judges ; owners of beasts that won prizes in 1923; and a list of members of the society corrected to July 1924. Medical Practitioners in Scotland (1926) The Medical Directory was split into several sections. The Scottish section covered all medical practitioners resident within Scotland. Each year a schedule was sent to each doctor to be returned to the publishers, so as to keep the directory up to date. In the directory the doctor's name is given first, in bold, surname first, in capitals; then current address. Next are the qualifications; the italic abbreviations in parentheses following the qualifications indicate the medical school at which they were gained. Then there is a list of posts and honours within the profession, starting with those then current; previous posts are preceded by the word 'late'. Surgeons (1928) The Royal College of Surgeons, established by royal charters, issued this calendar 1 August 1928, including official lists of all its fellows, members, licentiates and diplomates. The register of fellows gives full name (surname first) and address (in italics), with dates of admission as fellow and member. The list of members gives year of admission, full name (surname first) and town or country of residence. The lists of licentiates give year of admission and full name, but no indication of current address: entries of fellows of the college are prefixed with a double dagger, those of members with an asterisk. The lists of diplomates give year of admission and full name (surname first), with those diplomates who were neither members nor fellows of the college indicated with a dagger.
