Outstanding soldiers of the 19th (1st Yorkshire North Riding - Princess of Wales' Own) Regiment
(1875-1881) Each year the best soldiers of the regiment were chosen for long service and good conduct medals. This register gives rank, name, regimental number, and date of recommendation. (The sample scan is from the 34th foot). The register is essentially a register of recommendations, but from 1877-8 onwards there are also details of the issue of the medals. The 1st battalion was sent out to Bermuda in 1877, and on to Nova Scotia in 1880. The 2nd battalion returned to England from India in 1877, and was moved to Ireland in 1881.MILTON.
