When Joseph Redington, Assistant Keeper of the Public Records, calendared the Home Office papers from the accession of king George III, 25 October 1760, to the end of 1765, he gathered together references to criminals from the State Papers Domestic, Warrant Books, and Criminal Papers, and these were printed in tabular form. The information is set out in four sections: -
1. Letters to Judges: giving name of the judge; name of the convict; crime; sentence; where tried or confined; date; page.
2. Petitions in Favour: stating from whom; name of convict; crime; sentence; where tried or confined; object of petition (such as pardon or commutation); date.
3. Reports or Certificates of the Judges, chiefly addressed to the king, on the Cases of Criminals: with name of judge; name of criminal; crime; sentence; where tried or confined; condition of pardon.
4. Warrants and Letters relating to Criminals convicted, being Pardons, Respites &c.: with nature of document; name of convict; crime; sentence; where tried or confined; date; page.

The Daily Universal Register of London carried detailed lists of shipping news from ports around the world - arrivals, departures, ships in port, ships spoken to in passage - mostly, but not entirely, relating to British merchantmen. May 1785.

| Freeholders voting in Castle ward, Northumberland
(1826)
An election to choose two knights of the shire to represent Northumberland took place at Alnwick from 20 June to 6 July 1826. The candidates were Henry Thomas Liddell (L), Matthew Bell (B), Thomas Wentworth Beaumont (Bt) and Viscount Howick (H). The franchise included all freeholders of property worth 40 shillings or more per annum: each had two votes, but could plump for a single candidate. This poll book was published in 1827 and lists the voters from each ward: the freeholder's full name (surname first), residence, and the nature of the freehold (such as 'house at Corbridge'). The votes are shown in the right hand columns, with plumpers shown by a dagger. Castle ward included North Shields and the surrounding countryside.WILE. Cost: £6.00. | Sample scan, click to enlarge

The 1851 census return for St George the Martyr, Southwark, registration district: London Road sub-district: enumeration district 15: described as: "Webber Street commencing at Wood's (corner of Webber Row) to Ross's the end of Parish - Barron's Place (both sides) - John's Buildings - Herbert's Buildings - Chester Place - Barron's Court - Laurie Terrace - Barkham Terrace - King Edward Street (both sides) - and Yorkshire School." This area lay in the parish of St George the Martyr, Southwark.
